For Pain "I was given Tramadol for osteoarthritis and back pain from falling off a ladder. It didn’t work any better than Tylenol. I took it after a painful gynecological biopsy (they didn’t administer anesthetic.....). It didn’t work. My son was given Tramadol for joint pain and for Scoliosis. It didn’t work any better than Tylenol and he can’t have NSAIDS..... My mother was given Tramadol for pain. It never worked. She didn’t take any opioids on a regular basis either, so there goes the excuse of being hooked on any other opioid...... The stuff doesn’t work. An almost full prescription sits unused. Now that I know that it also affect Serotonin Receptors, I really won’t touch it. No wonder people get addicted. One might as well be on Antidepressants. No Bueno!"

For Pain "I just started this med yesterday for osteoarthritis & fibromyalgia. After reading the other comments my experience is pretty normal. I'm itching like crazy, had a bad night-no rest, nausea & mild headache. With all those side effects, it appears to have knocked off the edge of the pain. I will continue using if for a few days if I can handle the itching. I want to give it some time because I cannot use narcotics. I end up in the hospital with dehydration from vomiting when I use any narcotics."

For Pain "I take Ultram for degenerative changes in the lower lumbar spine,(spinal stenosis, dry disc) and for neck pain from auto accidents and sterno and acromioclavicular joint pain from open heart surgery. It is the only thing I have used that works and gives me 8 hours of sleep. I only take it when the pain gets intolerable and renders sleep impossible. Have no withdrawal and the only side effect is constipation. I highly recommend Tramadol. It helped me more than anything else."

For Fibromyalgia "This is definitely my miracle drug. It allows me to continue working and even seems to have a slight mood elevator. I have suffered from fibromyalgia for years and the only other pain relievers I have found to help also made me drowsy and unable to function mentally. The only thing I notice from tramadol is relief. I have a sister with fibromyalgia and it doesn't help her in the least so you just have to try it and see."

For Fibromyalgia "I just thought that I'd add this comment for you. I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, hepatitis, and lupus. But before my diagnoses, with no insurance, I went to the hospital when I couldn't take the pain anymore and was prescribed Ultram 50mg 2x a day. At first I took 1 and then another and so on until I reached six in a 4 hour period. When it finally started working it hit me like a ton of bricks. Needless to say I was pain free. So my advise is start with 2 and wait, it just not an instant relief like codeine. Unfortunately your body does become immune to its effects within abut 3 months. Now I am taking 4 roxicodone a day and also adjusting to that quickly too. Good luck to all of you."

For Pain "This medication worked very well to ease my ankle pain. However, it left me feeling a little forgetful after taking it for a few days. It also made me very drowsy. But I was not in the severe pain that I had been. The most negative reaction was when I stopped taking the medication. The following day I felt nauseous, shaky, dizzy, and had the cold sweats. The withdrawal symptoms were very unpleasant."

For Fibromyalgia "I have been taking ultram for 5 years now. I take it to help with the chronic pain caused by fibromyalgia. It is the only drug that I have taken that allows me to perform tasks without experiencing extremely intrusive pain. I am 27 years old and without this medication I do not believe I could have reached the goals that I have today."

For Fibromyalgia "Fourteen years on Ultram, initially prescribed for migraine relief. As a painkiller, it has never worked for me. However, there is a little rider attached to the medicine information when I pick it up from the pharmacy about how it may be used for purposes other than pain relief. For me, it keeps my joints fluid (I now have arthritis as well as fibromyalgia), and most definitely acts as a mood elevator. No high or buzz, but a feeling of stability. Because I metabolize ALL medicines at a high rate, it takes more 50mg tablets than the FDA recommends to get relief. Wears off fast, but one dose in the morning seems to keep me stable. Also I cannot sleep without it. So many, many different reactions to the same medicine."

For Fibromyalgia "I was taking Ultram ER 100 mg once a day along with Lyrica with no real relief. My doctor upped my Ultram to 200 mg once a day and I feel much better. I can't believe the difference the dosage makes. Off course, being time release it does take a while to kick in, but I found I can work a longer day sometimes."

For Fibromyalgia "I have been in pain for more than 18 years and used to live on Ibuprofen when I wasn't diagnosed. Finally 2 years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and prescribed Tramadol (Ultram). It was wonderful. I could move so much better than ever before. My pain seemed to be controlled. However, I quickly realised that the medication only lasted for 4 hours every time. Then the pain would creep back stronger than before. "

For Pain "I have severe scar tissue and adhesions from mutiple surgeries and the pain was intense it is in my pelvic area. I fill like I'm having a bad cycle every day and walking intensifies the pain this is a every day feeling. My doctor tried me on Ultram and it has been a God send. I take it three times a day. Without it it would be hard to walk so I give it a 10 thank you."

For Fibromyalgia "I take 100 mg of Ultram as soon as I get up in the morning. It really does help in a prophylactic way. If I don't take it for some reason, I can tell within a couple of hours because my nerves start tingling. I also take 100 mg later on during the day, and I have found Ultram to be the best help that I can take on a regular basis."

For Pain "I just started taking this medication. It works wonders. I have been in chronic pain for over 3 years and needless to say, constant pain puts me in a terrible mood. This medication not only relieves the pain in my joints, but also helps me psychologically. I'm not sure if it is the medicine or the fact that I am pain free for the first time in years."

For Fibromyalgia "Today I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I've had this since I was 12 yrs old and my family doctor never would believe me that I have pain everywhere. I've lost 38 pounds and he finally woke up and sent me to a lovely rhuematologist. He gave me 50mg Ultram 3x day, Lyrica 50mg 2x daily and amitriptyline 25mg 1 at bedtime. All that said I have found tramadol works like a charm. It helps me cope with the pain and I feel young again instead of 98 yrs old. "

For Pain "I have arthritis in most joints and back and neck pain. I have used Tramadol for 2 years now. It was life changing in the way it relieved pain without nasty side effects of hydrocodone (I got very irritable when it wore off). Seems to be taking higher dosage for less relief but still would rather continue the tramadol and use something for breakthrough pain on physical work days. If you experience nausea try a lower dose and work up to more. Stick with it, the nausea went away for me. When I forget a day or so and go back to it I sometimes get nausea again."

For Pain "50 mg (2 every 6 hrs) has worked wonders on my pain. I have a small cerebral aneurysm (too small for surgery yet) that causes me to have a terrible ongoing headache (for almost 3 yrs now). If taken consistently, it keeps my pain very manageable. I weaned myself off of antidepressents when I was in my 20's (I'm now 37) but depression crept back up on me. When I started taking Ultram, the depression symptoms WENT AWAY. I do have TERRIBLE withdrawals though. Otherwise, its been a lifesaver for me! Thumbs up!"

For Fibromyalgia "I started taking Tramadol for undiagnosed knee pain about ten years ago. It was a miracle. I was actually able to walk for most of the day without pain. I finally had knee surgery, so I only had to take it a couple times a week. Then, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 5 years ago and had brain surgery, which I have had many bad effects from. The tramadol and also Percocet get me through my days. I want to kiss whoever created the tramadol."

For Pain "I underwent a two-level lumbo-sacral spine fusion (2-level PLIF) in 2007 and have been on Tramadol for chronic pain since then. I find that Tramadol works as well as most opioids with less impairment at similar levels of pain relief. I HAVE experienced two seizures thought to be caused by Tramadol while I was titrating upward on the drug, but have had no problems since. I have tried titrating off of Tramadol twice and in both instances experienced moderate withdrawal symptoms of the opiate type almost immediately. Overall I consider it a very effective analgesic for chronic low back pain with few side effects, but would recommend a prolonged titration off of the drug if you decide to discontinue use. I give it a thumbs-up."

For Pain "Have been taking this for only about 3 days. Seems to take away most of the pain. Works better than anything else has for me. I've tried Vicodin, Percocet, and naproxen tablets. This works better than any."

For Pain "I currently use fentanyl 100 patches and oxycodone with APAP 5/325 mg. I have still been having pain thoughout the day. I started to take the Ultram ER 200 mg and it has worked very well. So well in fact that I rarely have to take the oxycodone with APAP. That is great."

For Pain "I suffer from degenerative disk disease and I've had surgery for this twice in my lifetime. I am only 43 and already on Disability. I have tried taking Ultram/Tramadol for my back pain and I feel absolutely NO relief when I take it. I even got brave and took 2 at a time for a day (my normal dose being 50mg every 8 hours). Still nothing. I've had at least three different doctors recommend or prescribe this to me over the last 4 years and have never once had it lower the pain in my back. I am glad to hear that it works for a lot of people, I just wish it would work for me."

For Pain "I am a long term ultram user (maybe 5 or 6 years). I have osteoarthritis. Now I feel like I am taking the medicine just to get rid of the headache and runny nose that I get when I do NOT take it. I am trying to STOP taking it and maybe switch to arthritis strength tylenol. At least I won't have a headache and a runny nose. I think it addressed my pain very well some years ago but now it's not working because I still have arthritis pain."

"I have suffered with fatigue and joint and muscle pain and restless leg syndrome for ten years. Used Ibuprofen which only helped a small bit, I finally said enough is enough and went the doctor and told them to give me something for the pain. I felt like I was losing my mind and I just said I know I have fibromyalgia and I can't take it anymore. She gave me antidepressants and a muscle relaxer and Tramadol. I only felt doped up with the antidepressant and the muscle relaxer but the Tramadol was awesome. I am now able to work pain free and exercise, I have lost 40 lbs since I started taking it and I feel more normal. I don't think I can deal with the pain again. I take the 50mg tab 1 every 5 to 6 hours."

For Chronic Pain "I took this drug for approximately 2 months and while it helped a bit during the day, the multitude of side effects were much worse! My skin itched so bad I felt like I had bugs, and my joint pain was horrible. I have two herniated discs and I'm in constant pain, but this was definitely not the pain medication for me."

For Fibromyalgia "A doctgor (I've been to many) tried me on Ultram. On about the 2nd or 3rd day, I was at work and began feeling very strange. I got shakier as the morning progressed. I got up and could not walk without holding on to the wall. Then I began having breathing problems. I asked my boss if somebody could take me to the ER. On the way there, I truly felt like I was going to die. My coworker got me into the ER and the triage team first checked my heart out with an ECG, etc. The conclusion the ER doctor came up with is that I was having something called Serotonin Syndrome which can be quite serious. They gave me some Ativan and sent me home. My mother-in-law was on Ultram for years and it worked very well for her."
